What top coat should I use on cabinets?

Wise Owl Varnish or Dixie Belle Clear Coat — these are the only topcoats either brand explicitly markets for cabinets and high-traffic areas.

Is wax durable enough for a kitchen table?

Neither brand makes an explicit high-traffic claim for wax, one way or the other. In general refinishing practice, wax finishes are considered lower-durability than a poly/clear topcoat and need more frequent reapplication — a clear topcoat is the better-documented choice for a surface that sees daily use.

Does Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint need a top coat?

Yes — unlike One Hour Enamel, Chalk Synthesis Paint is not self-sealing. Wise Owl specifically recommends sealing it with Furniture Tonic or One Hour Enamel Clear.
